What is the Liposuction Procedure?
Liposuction has experienced significant advances in recent years and is now a much safer and more effective procedure. The results are smoother, and downtime greatly reduced. At University Plastic Surgeons, we use state-of-the-art liposuction techniques to help our male patients reduce unsightly fatty areas. We perform tumescent liposuction, a technique in which a solution is injected to numb the area to be treated and constrict the blood vessels. With this advanced process we are able to minimize the risk of bleeding and speed recovery.
TA small cannula, a thin hollow needle, is inserted below the skin and with an advanced vacuum technology, excess fat is suctioned from the body. We perform liposuction on men with precision, along with the most stringent health and safety protocols. Our team of plastic surgeons each serve on the faculty at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis and are considered to be among the most accomplished plastic surgeons practicing in the state.

What should I expect during the recovery period?
After undergoing liposuction, you will be wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling and keep the treated area stable. It is normal to experience some bruising and discomfort that should subside within a few days. Any discomfort experienced after the procedure can be managed with pain medication, but strong painkillers are rarely needed. Taking walks and applying cold compresses is helpful in reducing residual swelling.

Are thre any risks associated with Liposuction?
There are fewer risks associated with modern liposuction, but could include bruising, swelling, bleeding, or uneven results. There is also a potential risk for infection, altered or reduced sensation in the treated area, or other adverse reactions. We can answer all your questions and concerns during a private consultation with our surgeon. We ensure our patients are fully educated on the procedure and what to expect and informed of any risk. With your procedure performed at University Plastic Surgeons in Memphis, the risks associated with liposuction are very low.
