Many women are embarrassed to reveal the flabby condition of their upper arms. Even in the hottest Memphis weather, they avoid wearing sleeveless tops. Consider the difference in your quality of life when you are no longer concerned about the appearance of flabby arms and have achieved a look that is firm, tight, and smooth.

In many cases, saggy upper arms are the result of a dramatic weight loss. While it is exciting and rewarding to be free from excess weight, the upper arms are often left with drooping skin that shakes and wobbles with every arm motion – a distressing and embarrassing condition that can be resolved with a custom arm lift.

Resolving Flabby, Saggy Upper Arms with a Brachioplasty

Others may struggle with flabby upper arms simply due to the loss of skin elasticity that comes with age, or when the skin on the arms has been damaged due to excess sun exposure. The skin sags due to diminished collagen and elastin, hangs and droops, causing embarrassment. An arm lift can restore the firm upper arms that make you look younger and fitter – and allow you to dress in the clothing styles you want.

Why University Plastic Surgeons in Memphis?

Choosing the right plastic surgeon is not a minor issue. At University Plastic Surgeons, each of our plastic surgeons is an experienced medical professional and holds a faculty position at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Our surgical team offers outstanding credentials and extensive experience in complex surgeries, including reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. We use the most advanced surgical techniques, including when performing an arm lift procedure. In many cases, the surgery can be performed through an incision hidden in the armpit, rather than in the underarm, but only a private consultation will reveal what will be necessary to restore a more youthful firm look to your upper arms.

Quality of Life: A Positive Body Image Makes a Difference.

For arm lift surgery, you want to achieve the results you envision, with tighter, smoother upper arms, finally free from unsightly sagging skin and tissue. Our patients tell us the increase in self-confidence in body image is one of the most positive results of undergoing an arm lift. Having confidence in your body goes a long way in improving quality of life, as well as allowing you to wear more revealing clothing with confidence.

Arm Lift Recovery

When planning your surgery, expect to take about one to two weeks off work. Every person heals slightly differently, and some may require a bit more time, while others can return to work earlier. You will need to avoid vigorous physical activity for at least four weeks. The procedure is ordinarily performed on an outpatient basis, and you can return home once it is complete. You will be wearing bandages in the initial healing stages and will have pain medication to keep you comfortable. You will need to avoid driving for two weeks after surgery.
